Purchasing Manager - Heavy Building Materials

PURCHASING MANAGER
BASED: SPRINGFIELD ROAD, BELFAST

About this Role:

A new role to the department which is Integral to delivering on the groups Commercial Strategy and in conjunction with a wider team. The role of the purchasing manager is to grow and enrich supplier relationships by ‘being easy to do business with’, through delivering exemplar commercial opportunities which coupled with effective analysis and negotiation skills will deliver growth in direct and ex-yard sales within customer base.

Duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Create a positive ethos gaining ‘buy in’ from both internal and external stakeholders from proactive relationship management
  • Develop local and national supplier options through responsible sourcing parameters.
  • Manage price file utilizing internal systems
  • Manage comprehensive product range within category. Reducing and expanding as required
  • Forward purchasing to ensure stock availability in line with demand
  • Staying commercially astute with regards to competitor, supplier and market activity
  • Using data analysis and KPI’s to advise and inform decisions
  • Liaise with suppliers and marketing regarding product promotions such as ‘seasonal offers’
  • Support wider business to deliver on purchasing / commercial business strategy
  • Any other reasonable duties deemed necessary and reasonable for the success of the business


Suitable Applicants will be/have:

  • Proven experience of working within a commercial / purchasing or similar environment - essential
  • Experience of data analysis and assimilation - essential
  • Extensive product and construction industry knowledge
  • Strong awareness of the construction market and its influencing factors
  • Ability to deliver a successful outcome through a collaborative approach with others
  • Experience in influencing and negotiating with a range of personalities at all levels
  • Proactive approach to planning, organization and time management
  • Strong communicator, verbally and written
  • Ability to work as part of a wider team and independently.
  • Competent in the use of IT (CRM, Excel, outlook etc.)
