JP Corry teamed up with Saint-Gobain Isover, Gyproc and Weber to host the seminar ‘How to deliver low energy comfortable buildings for Northern Ireland’.
The event was held at the South Eastern Regional College ARDS Campus on Wednesday 9th November and was attended by over forty industry professionals including architects, contractors, engineers, housing developers, local councils and building control. Stephen Agnew MLA, Chair of the Green Party and Chair of Social Housing Working Group, made an appearance at the event as well as Mike Nesbitt MLA from UTV.
Visitors had the opportunity to network with others interested in the Passive House topic before the seminar took place.
Fintan Smyth, Building Physics Manager for Saint-Gobain Isover and Gyproc, opened the seminar by introducing Passive House and discussing the design and delivery of high performance buildings as well as how to make buildings comfortable and healthy for the occupants.
Visitors were then offered solutions for local construction types and given specific details on wall and roof construction.
The seminar concluded with practical demonstrations on external wall insulation (Weber) and internal dry lining and moisture control (Isover) as well as practical case studies on new build and retrofit.
The day ended with a free lunch for all visitors who had the opportunity to speak to our specialists.
